yeah, i guess that was an edl. it is a sort of solution but veeeery veeeery poor one. you will loose all your effects, settings etc. edl is only a text info which in simple words says vegas which file to take as an input and which part of it where to put on a timeline

holy smokes maaaan… 6.5 mb for a frame? if you need help i firstly advise you should always be precise in asking. You said you wanted to change the range of the sequence but now it comes out that you want to save the disc space. that something completely different and needs totally different approach.

if you want to save the space, don’t even touch vegas. take photoshop or any graphic files viewer that is able to process files in a batch. input your sequence and convert it to smaller resolution and different format. i suggest png. if you don’t pan or crop in your video project your resolution may be the same as that project has.

what are you using as your input, bmp? tga? tiff?
switch to png, cut the reso. no worries no one would see any difference. in fact there is no difference, when you input big files, vegas is changing their resolution and compresses them. if you make them smaller in the beginning, you save some time in rendering and save space on your input files. and that is what you wanted, isn’t it?

There was a moment that i seriously started thinking about premiere or avid… i am gonna miss fx filtering. with all those plugins it helped in my workflow… to hell with that… amen to your words!

by the way. you got an idea why some external icons disappear from my toolbar? i hate that and i especially hate things that i am unable to resolve. i’ve checked – all of those that are missing are pngs with transparency – i ve studied the thread that you wanted to mention. i don’t know what else it may be??? any idea?
    thanx steve, all the best

    shit, steve!!!
it’s been few days of working on this 6′ very dynamic project. MAN!!! i have 800 fullhd 50Mbps 422 mxfs in my bin, about 1000 splits on 12 tracks of my timeline. geeeez!!! i don’t care about proxies, i don’t care about anything. i go to preview and i have everything smooth and easy and my laptop is not so powerful at all – i3+1gb graph+8 memory.
i had svp10 before. i switched to 11. i installed new upgrades and it’s been becoming worse. why the hell haven’t i thought of going back to 10 earlier????
    i wan’t touch 11 anymore. i’ll wait for 12.
i am happy again and i only wanted to share. PEOPLE! IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH 11, JUST KICK IT OUT TO THE MOON AND GO FOR 10!

July 22, 2012 at 8:01 pm in reply to: Plug ins 32 or 64 bit?

depends on what you are doing but what counts the most for me is the smooth workflow. ask yourself is it really worth to jump from vegas x64 to 32, render some files in it with your 32 plugins, go back to vegas x 64, import those files… what i loved about vegas is that i can do most of stuff in it and i don’t need almost anything else. i sometime jump to photoshop but it is directly from vegas – i have a script for this. occasionally i do frameserving for AE, i do what i need to do, and i come back to vegas easily.
i would hate vegas and my work if i had to switch between two versions of the same application. ask yourself a question: are those x32 plugins so very important? can’t you really leave them behind? which are they? as far as i know today all best plugins for vegas are available for x64.
it is only my private opinion that i ‘d like to share. of course i respect you may have different preferences.
    good luck
