    Thanks Jeremy, this helps.

I am after FCPX’s presets in fact. I hope they are not tagged per machine so I can easily transfer them from one machine to the next.

    I’ll look into it.

    Thanks again,

    Patrice

Not sure if this has to do with your older machine, but rest assured that once it is running on your NMP, it will use way more than that.

Alternatively, it is on page 233 of the manual, a well made searchable pdf file. Took only 20 seconds to find it…

    Hi,

if you have the money for a larger SSD I would advise you to put it into … more RAM. FCPX will behave better with 32 or 64 GB than.

256 GB of SSD should be enough for your OS, FCPX , Lightroom and and a few other.

    just my 2 cents

  • You could always select it in the Timeline Index…

It is magic but has limitations. It works very well with fixed shots with a moving object inside.

It doesn’t work very well with zoomed shots or moving shots : those tend to create jelly-like morphing of parts of the picture.

It would be nice to have adjustments to fiddle with but it is an all or nothing mode, for now.

June 2, 2014 at 8:51 pm in reply to: Search for keyword collections by keyword???

    Hi,

you can’t search for keywords as text because they are not text entries (unlike notes for example or clip names).

But you can search for certain keywords when you click on the magnifying glass on the upper right hand corner of your clip browser. Under the plus sign is a list of search criteria you can add and this search is of the boolean kind : is/is not, contains/does not contain etc, much the sae way as setting smart playlists in itunes. Very powerful.

You can then save that search in the form of a Smart collection.

If you recently transitioned from FCP7 I strongly suggest either a read of the manual or some video training such as Ripple’s or a course. It will save you lots of time in understanding these fundamental behaviours of FCPX.

    Hope this helps.

I have no idea why this is happening to your clip but have you tried creating the multiclip with fcpx directly ?

I know it won’t explain the failure to display your Plural eyes clip but it should get you going.

In 2002 the whole HBS setting was Avid, from laptops for the 14 eng teams to Symphonys at the IBC.

A few years later for the Asian Games in Doha, an operation just under the summer olympics in size, it was all tapeless EVS with Clean Edit (and a very early version at that) plus one tape based room with an old Sony 2000 for backup.

This time they are going with Premiere. Why not? But it does not mean they will stay with it the next time, or the one after that…
