Hi just tried it here:

1) had a folder with tiff images named in sequencial order, imported that in FCP, after having changed the stills duration to 1 frame

2)cut some footage in a sequence (xdcam in this case)

3)inserted the tiff sequence by dragging the folder to canvas overlay

et voilà, each tiff frame is exactly one frame long.

It will work if you do it in trim mode. Not sure about slip or slide mode, and cannot check right now as I am away from my editing rig.

In the Preference menu (alt Q), change stills duration to 1 frame, then import. Don’t forget to change back to a few seconds or the next time you will generate a still it will only be 1 frame long.

Hi,

I see mostly film burn (Light Leak) transitions, and other types of superimposed stuff (color scratches, out of focus lights) over quick dissolves. Seems to be de rigeur for skateboarding videos nowadays (yawn).

Google film burn and you will find some for free, packages for under 40$ or else, build your own…

told me to use Shift O to get to the last frame of the clip.

Shift O = go to out, so you must have had an out point at the end of your sequence.

I also tried Ctrl K that someone suggested, but that just brings expose to life and moves to a different screen.

Your mac isn’t setup properly. Check keyboard and exposé settings in Preferences for your OS. Your FCP will work better…

Looks like a dissolve to me, only it is relatively fast and applied together with the sudden zoom of one or both of the sources…

Size changes to volume can be done easily in Motion. Edges seem to be rough masking over color with transparency, with the whole lot going through that size changing behavior.

Hi,

your MBP will handle it, as long as you have fast enough drives. Hopefully you have a 17″ and can hook up esata via 3/4 PC card. I used such a setup, multicam on a 2 hours theatre play with no problem, using the excellent Sonnet F2 drive.

Start with installing Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion, it’s good and it’s free.

Make sure it launches automatically when starting up the Mac Pro.

Make basic setup and explain to freelancers how to create their prefs BASED on the basic setup.

Fire up an email every time someone did not follow procedure, with cpies to all editors and a few levels up.

Worked for us.
