Bottom of timeline has the playback quality setting. anything less than full may give poor results. Also DV res isn’t ideal as it’s 5:1 compressed (but the alpha should be uncompressed so it should look reasonable)

Just too many issues. We have problems with the analogue audio inputs not working as well as the capture offsets.
There’s no information from Black Magic at all.
I guess you get what you pay for and with a budget card your saving is the lack of support and development.

July 12, 2013 at 8:22 am in reply to: Why can’t we have more than one project window? And other remarks about bin management in project window. And you can do the same thing in windows at explorer level.
Bin dropped into the current MC project become visible when MC has the focus again.
But two project windows would imply 2 projects so you then risk different project formats being switched between.
Bin and folders should be enough.
Sounds like FCP-X maybe more what you need if that sort of management is needed as it works more like a massive database. -
Media Composer 7.0 bins are compatible in earlier versions of Media Composer. The latest maintenance releases (5.5.3.7, 6.0.4, 6.5.3) contain fixes to ensure bins open without inconsistent behaviour.

No the changes in V7 means bins can’t go back unless you have the latest patch update. Pretty sure there were releases recently for V5.5 V6.0 and V6.5
You need to download and install that latest patch to get bin support.
Also with V7 you get a lot of new features that won’t be supported in V5.5 so you need to manage that as well. -
You can install the software on as many computers as you like and for 30 days choose to run them in trial mode (fully functional) but only one system can be activated with a serial number and activation code. So if one system is activated you need to deactivate it in the Avid License control. Then you can activate it on the second machine.
If you try and activate a second machine with one still activated (even if not running) The second activation will fail with an error that you have exceeded the number of allowed activations. -
With software licensing prior to V7 you could only use it for that version of MC. So V5.5 or V6.0 or V6.5 the point releases numbers aren’t an issue so V6.5.1 and V6.5.3 will work with the same activation.
So as long as you have Mac OS versions that allow the same MC version then you can activate and de-activate to switch.
I’d look at upgrading the V6.0 to at least V6.5 or even 7 but it should be ok going between V6.5 & V6.0
