Sounds like the soure footage is interlaced.
If so after AMA linking you need to use set source and check interlaced is selected. Before transcoding. Dnx36 is progressive only so you need MC to deinterlace durung the transcode. Which it will fo if the source is flagged as interlaced.
Your current dnx36 mefia maybe no good if it has embedded interlacing tearing.

Why do they have to keep subscribers happy? We’re all paying our monthly subscription fees updates or not.
That’s why I preferred the old idea of paying for updates. More incentive to innovate then. Less now.

Well being a moderator on the Avid community forums I can say thetes great support there. And Avids official support has always been top notch. With the new Media Composer 8 subscription model all users gave the full Avid support package.
But I wouldn’t suggest making a major change in you NLE based on one bad support experience.

Create a new Avid project. Set it to 25P
Ingest the AAF and ensure its linked to the media. Use sequwnce refresh to update the sequence.
Use set bin display, show reference clips to ensure the source clips have the correct properties. If not modify and refresh the sequence again. When done re export the AAF.

Only odd thing is that true P foorage flagged as i shouldn’t gain interlacing artefacts. …

If you originally AMA linked the files and then transcoded to make MXF media (this isn’t importing as that’s an older legacy way of ingesting media). Then you create a new empty bin in your project and the AMA link all the required sources you need. (using the set bin display you can select show reference clips to get a list of clips needed and if you turn on the column headings source name and source path it will even show you what and where to find them)
Once AMA linked you can select all and re-transcode to whatever quality you need and then relink the sequence to that media (or link the sequence to the AMA sources if you prefer)

My view is go HP. More bang for you bucks.
Also the Apple OS has had a number of dis-settling updates recently and no sign that will level off. Windows 7 Pro 64bit Service pack 1 will see you good for some years. Windows 8.1 is ok (and slightly more efficient but windows 7 is rock solid)

Hardware wise I find Apple upgrades to be overly priced.

And finally I generally find Avid to be more stable on PC than Mac.
Plus you get Avid DVD on the PC side but not the Mac (although Avid DVD will no longer ship from MC V8)

At VET we work with some jobs on shared storage but the vast majority are standalone systems and most of the clients we work with work on standalone systems and media management is not an issue for them. Many are only working on one job at a time and if they do have to work on more then there are relatively simple ways of achieving what you need (separate external drives being the simplest and easiest way to manage separate projects.

Better media management would be a nice addition. But it’s not a must have and it’s not top of and of my clients list of needs from Avid.

I have MDV and moving media is a breeze.
And even on systems without mdv I can manage media by manually naming folders before projects start.

Be great for Avid to address this but of the list of things I’d rather they worked on updating the media tool is low on the list

MDV on the PC side is great fir this. And Avids media tool really only good for deleting media.
Most folks use manually numbering MXF sub folders as they create media to keep projects separate. Much easier to keep media by project than sort it later.

You can deinterlace interlaced footage but making progressive into interlaced is harder.
However most broadcasters will take P content as long as its in an I timeline. It depends on what you content is and will it look as good as it can progressive? For the web you have no choice but for broadcast you do.
