Using a dongle allows earlier version to be run. But you have find or buy a dongle.
V7 has some nice audio improvements. I love copy and paste of whole sections of audio rubberbanding.

Export settings are part of your user settings. Just export your user settings and zip that up and send it.
The other editor can open those settings and drag across the required setting.

VET doesn’t run any scheduled online courses as such. We mainly delver short courses of a day to 3 days and there’s a lot to cover to bring an online editor upto broadcast delivery standard.
We do courses that build towards it and I sometimes do one to one sessions.
The other consideration is Quality Control of the final output. So record report of qualitive and technical aspects.

As of October this year most UK broadcasters will have adopted the uk DPP spec (Digital production Partnership) Their website has the generic spec but you still need the actual broadcaster spec for specific guidelines.
You also need to legalise the video signal. Being prores won’t make it legal.
And deal with loudness.
Broadcast finishing can be an expensive business if it keeps getting rejected….

The ingest also has an impact on how you plan to conform.
If your final finishing is outside Avid its less of an issue but if you plan to finish in MC or Symphony then how MC sees the originally (Import or AMA) makes a difference now MC has LUT support and background transcode. Ingesting in MC works well.

You need a proper output to feed a TV. Ideally a reference monitor.

As Shane says in MC you are stuck. You either AMAS link and ingest or you import. Good knows why people still import nowadays it’s so slow compared to AMA link and Transcode.
But on the Avid front that has boxed you into a corner.
The batch import will require the whole clip to be imported at finishing resolution not just the amount of the clip used in the final sequence.

However on the Resolve front you may not be so limited.
If you can mount the required original sources in the resolve media pool and then take an AAF from Avid of the offline sequence you maybe able to tell resolve to use the media in the media pool. Worth a shot.
I’d suggest looking for a Post House working with Avid and resolve for some hand holding. Their expertise could save you a lot of time..

I would create a temp 1080i project.
AMA link a sample clip.
Use the command palette in direct mode and use the field stepping buttons to step through some frame with movement. You should see a 2 appear top right of viewer every other step and the timecode increment every 2 steps. If you see the.movement progress each field step its interlaced. If movement changes every pair of steps its progressive.
To ensure the AMA setting is correct right click on clip and choose set source. Go to first tab and change field order. If interlaced it should be upper field for HD.
set project format to progressive (you won’t get dnx36 as an option in an interlaced project.)
Then re transcode and check again.
