You don’t need QT to run MC.
Without QT you lose QT impot and export options.
There are suggestions online to reduce the risk QT presents.

MC will work without QT but it moans about it during the install. Your import and export options will become somewhat limited.
I wouldn’t fret too much about QT security. Just make sure you limit use of QT to import export tasks. Don’t use it as a general playback tool.

I’d download the full installer for the version of MC you have. Run that.
You will then have the uninstaller for that version.
You can then completely uninstall using tge uninstaller and reinstall.
But if MC shows the correct version at launch thats what you have installed.

  • Just as Job says.
Same as source export then squeeze.
No point trying to do it within MC

Background Transcode is your friend. AMA link, organise bin folder etc. Select clips, choose transcode, tick the background option at the bottom. (Make sure background services running )
New clips will be created but show as offline. No worries just move to new bin/folder.
Move on to next Card AMA link and repeat.
When a good batch load going. Leave it to get on with it or edit away with the clips as they com0lete and pop online. Note actually playing content pauses the background process.

February 9, 2016 at 9:28 am in reply to: Basic Consolidation Relink question

You can relink a sequence back to AMA sources with nothing but the sequence.
You do have to manually AMA link all the sources used in your sequence if you still don’t have them in a bin and linked to their media.
Use show ref clips in bin display to find what sources your seq uses.
Once you have all the needed AMA clips online you then link the sequence to them.
Once the seq is linked to the AMA sources (turn on timeline clip color to show purple for AMA sources) you can transcode to DNx.

Yes it’s much better. It allows hard clipping or soft clipping and it has EBU R103 spec option.

As Michael says turn of AMA management.
Import isn’t the same as AMA so you need to understand the impact that has later on in the workflow.

One other thing to try is to change the general setting in MC to have a different tmp directory. That may help.

Yup easy. You need to upgrade your boot drive.
    15GB is nothing nowadays.
You need to either clear a lot of stuff off the C drive or upgrade to a larger boot drive.
With a 500GB boot drive I’d expect to have between 300-150GB free

Pretty sure QT exports create a tmp file on the OS drive then transfer to the destination drive.
You need 120% or more free space on the OS drive based on the expected export file size.
