Basic Consolidation Relink question
I’m cutting on a Avid MC(8.4.3) w/ Symphony and am new to the transcoding process. I brought in 1 clip via AMA. Plays perfect. Transcode to DNX36. This clip plays perfect. Created a simple sequence using trancoded clip. Deleted DNX36 clip along with the original AMA clip. Relinked the sequence setting resolution to DNX175. Loaded relinked sequnece only to find out that only the audio relinked whereas video didn’t. What did I do wrong?

Wait…you deleted the AMA clip? Why? you need that to relink.
AMA Link. One bin per card, typically. KEEP THAT BIN AND ALL THE CLIPS
Transcode. Either to full res online quality, or offline DNx36.
Edit. Lock picture.
Duplicate your sequence.
Take all DNx36 media offline.
Attach the drive with the camera masters.
Open all the AMA bins.
Relink the duplicated sequence to the original AMA clips. Either re-transcode to high res, or online with originals, depending on the source.Shane

You can relink a sequence back to AMA sources with nothing but the sequence.
You do have to manually AMA link all the sources used in your sequence if you still don’t have them in a bin and linked to their media.
Use show ref clips in bin display to find what sources your seq uses.
Once you have all the needed AMA clips online you then link the sequence to them.
Once the seq is linked to the AMA sources (turn on timeline clip color to show purple for AMA sources) you can transcode to DNx.Pat Horridge

I brought in the AMA files which are kept on a PROMAX server. Then transcoded to DNX36. Closed out AMA bin. Edited sequence with transcoded clips. I then DELETED the transcoded media. I select the actual clip to relink. When I choose “from all available drives” it does not display the server drive. Avid goes through the motions off relinking, but unsuccessfully the DELETED Transcoded clip is offline.I even tried transcoding sequence and that too did not work. Is there something in the LINK settings that I am missing?
