January 17, 2016 at 11:26 amPretty sure QT exports create a tmp file on the OS drive then transfer to the destination drive.
You need 120% or more free space on the OS drive based on the expected export file size.Pat Horridge

January 19, 2016 at 4:18 pmI too am finding my C:\ drive keeps getting full, especially when I use a lot of RED files via AMA. Is there a way to alter the path of the AMA Management folder or the Attic without re-installing the Avid software? (MC Symphony 8.3) It would be great to have those go to my media drives instead of my c:\

January 19, 2016 at 4:53 pmYup easy. You need to upgrade your boot drive.
15GB is nothing nowadays.
You need to either clear a lot of stuff off the C drive or upgrade to a larger boot drive.
With a 500GB boot drive I’d expect to have between 300-150GB freePat Horridge

January 19, 2016 at 5:06 pmSure, getting a bigger drive may work for some and not for other if they are working on a laptop, etc. It is a reasonable request that Media Composer allow you to place the Attic, AMA links, waveforms, and such to a different drive. It is possible to do so with Search Data Folder, just extend that to other similar cached items.
One thing to try if you’re doing a lot of AMA and seeing some performance issue is turning off AMA management:
https://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/How_To/How-to-disable-AMA-Managed-Media-to-increase-performanceThat was one of those features added to a previous release with no real explanation anywhere as to what that meant and come to find out it was to help Interplay type scenarios… so at least get some performance back.

January 19, 2016 at 5:10 pmAs Michael says turn of AMA management.
Import isn’t the same as AMA so you need to understand the impact that has later on in the workflow. One other thing to try is to change the general setting in MC to have a different tmp directory. That may help.
