Not a hope. The current version 8.4 isn’t supported and they won’t extend the support back that far.

Sounds like issues with non linked AMA content.

In Avid land media is online (available) or not and when not Avid sows the media offline slate.
However now we have AMA there is an in between state that can occur.
MC thinks the media is online and playable but the link to the media is incorrect. On Mac systems this is often terminal with spinning beach balls and lock ups. The PC systems seem to hang for a while then recover.
This will happen if you have a clip in the source or record monitor that thinks its AMA online but isn’t. Using the clear monitor drop down will often recover the system back.

So it sounds like you still have one or more clips in the timeline that don’t have fully playable AMA media available to them.

All known and discussed on the Avid community forums. Lots of issues with this OS update full stop but most importantly not supported yet by Avid. And doesn’t work with current versions.

We use Nugen and Izotope. Both really good. But lots of other free or cheap options. Take care a few we looked at had dodgy virus issues.
Many need you to output the audio and deal with it outside MC.

My advice (and this is what I teach)
Do a video mixdown guide and store it locally.
Do an audio mixdown guide as well.
Seperate the audio (no point relinking AMA audio)
End up with video seq plus vid and aud guide both using locally stored media.
Take terrablock media offline.
Use bin display to show ref clips on seq bin.
Make sure source path and source file headings enabled.
Sort by source path. You now have a list of the AMA files that are needed.
AMA link all those into a fresh bin.
Select all those AMA files then right click seq and choose link to selected items in open bins.
Seq should come back online. Any rogue clips just overcut from AMA clips.
Use vid quide to do sync check.
Bring terrablock back online
Remove vid guide. Transcode timeline as required to terrablock.
Add original audio tracks and check against aud guide.
Vid and aud guide also double up as guide for audio dub.
Job just about done.

What OS are you running? FCP legacy gets more and more cranky as you move up the OS versions. Current MC versions need newer OS versions.

We ran dual boots for a while but FCP 7 is now long dead.

I’d be seriously looking at the long term viability of building a new workflow based on EOL products dependent on older hardware.

You’d be better looking at Premiere which is functionally similar to FCP 7 but at least current and being developed.

I thought you needed to deliver a P output and the issue was possibly I content in it?

It doesn’t really matter to MC. As long as the sources are correctly flagged (so for AMA source settings are correct. lets ignore imported or captured content)and you ensure you refresh the sequence. MC should take care of it. Any timeline renders may need to be redone. Any title media (if rollers or crawlers) may need to have media recreated.
But other than that MC should handle it.

You only need to toggle project format for tape ingest of import. With AMA its done by the AMA plugin but you need to check it gets it right via the source setting after AMA link is done.

I do a nice course that covers all this (VET Avid media management) but to help you out 🙂

At the conform stage you will have a final sequence.
In a bin with no other content you can use the set bin display to show reference clips and you will then see every clip used in the sequence. Copy these out to a new empty bin. That’s your conform list.
Make sure you have source file and source path column headings selected and sort by source path. You now have all the clips you need to AMA link sorted in order of original location and what clips you need.
AMA link those clips afresh (into yet another bin is good)you can try using the relinking option but in my experience an fresh AMA link is best. As each batch of clips AMA link check the source settings re I or P are correct (this can all be done while in the P project format)
If the setting is wrong change it.
When all AMA linking is done the sequence should have come back online. (you may want to have separated and consolidated the audio before all this as no point re-conforming perfectly good audio)
Use the refresh sequence option and select source settings to ensure the sequence reflects the AMA settings.
Check the progressive output on an external monitor to be sure no interlaced artefacts are present.
