As long as Media Composer knows that footage is interlaced or progressive on ingest then it will add motion adapters to convert as required.
If you import (old legacy way) then the import option has a field order/progressive choice but only in an interlaced project format.
So you would have to toggle the project format to 50i set import option for correct field order and import then toggle back to 25P

For AMA you need to check the source setting after AMA linked to see it has correctly identified it’s interlaced.

The key step is ensuring all content is checked for i or P and if i what filed order. Then link into MC and check source settings are correct and set if not. From there on MC will add motion adapters as required to de-interlace your i sources if in a P project format.

The end result will be a nice *if you like that sort of thing) juddery 25P output (you should avoid rollers for credits)

Rename the current 1 folder 101 rename 11 to 1
Create a title to that drive. That should rebuild.

As said by others.

Two things here. Colour Space and levels.

The 601 & 709 spec are 4:2:2 colour space and as such can only carry Y B-Y R-Y signals. These can be derived from RGB signals and converted back to RGB signals.
to carry true RGB values you need 4:4:4 colour space.
HDCAM SR decs use 2 709 inputs (dual link) to achieve 4:4:4:4 (one for alpha) so in that way can record RGBA signals.

So you are describing what information is carried in the digital data. Y, R-Y, B-Y values or R, G, B values.

Then you have the swing levels. TV typically uses 601/709, studio levels which in 8 bit go from 16 to 235. Outside TV typically black is 0 and white is 255 in 8bit. That is often referred to as RGB levels or full swing.

So studio levels, 601/709, for black at 16 white at 235 (8bit)
Full swing, RGB levels for black at 0 white at 255 (8bit)
Just to confuse things 601/709 singles can hold full swing values…

As Shane says importing is the legacy ingest method. AMA is the way. Far more flexible. You can use frame flex to pan and zoom within your UHD frame.

Yes that’s correct.
Avid will make media into a 1 folder unless the 1 folder is present and holds more than a set number of files (5K I think)
So if the 1 folder doesn’t exist or is empty Avid will use it or create it.
Take care that background Avid processes use their own Avid media folder _bg.1 and I think DMF also makes its own folder.

Also make sure you don’t have ticked the skip files on the target drive. This would cause any files already on that media drive to be skipped.

The aaf route to folder works well but be aware that using copy media won’t consolidate. So if you have used 20 sec of a 10 min clip all 10mins will copied. You can use that techineque and cosolidate.
You can also use your current methkd to your current internal media drive by renaming your 1 folder to 1001 then do the consolidate. The new 1 folder will have all that media in it. Move that folder out and you are done.

The files copied are the ones used in the sequence. You automatic duck a sequence not a project.

Pretty sure even the MP4 can’t have a thumbnail. I suspect the OS is choosing how to display the file as an icon by choosing a frame within the content. MC certainly has no control over that.
So it’s either MPEG stream clip or the OS.

Even V 8.4 isn’t win 10 compatible.
I don’t even think V7 will get Win 10 approval.
