Here’s their (rather old if you look at the computer diagrams!) How To page:
https://support.apple.com/kb/ht1433Here’s an even easier one for Mavericks:
https://support.apple.com/kb/PH13838It looks like modern macs have gigabit ethernet cards, so you should be able to share a drive without bottlenecks.

If you’re hunting the second-hand market for manual lenses to use with a converter, there are some useful reviews here: https://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/
…though read with caution: you’ll find a few people describing top end $3000 glass as “rubbish” amongst the positive reviews!
Presumably the converter will negate most of the auto features, so you can probably get a really nice old f2.8-at-both-ends tele zoom without tons of clever electronics (that won’t work on your PEN anyway.) The 2x crop factor will beef up a 135mm or 200mm focal length nicely, and a really good lens from a few decades ago is just as good today, as long as it’s not damaged or full of fungus…!
I spent a while looking for tele zooms to use with a converter on my GH2, but even the old ones were too much for my budget 🙁 -

January 9, 2014 at 3:00 pm in reply to: Premiere Pro CC – Imported video files only playing audioProRes wasn’t (isn’t?) supported natively by OS X – you have to install FC Pro in order to get the codec.
I sneakily copied the component from a FC Pro computer because I couldn’t persuade FC Pro to install on my Snow Leopard or Lion computer.
I don’t know if it’s natively supported by the newest OS X versions.
I hope that helpsPaddy, CreativeMedia.org.uk

>FYI, the GH2 natively records for as long as your memory card or battery holds out! No need to hack it to shoot long interviews.
It does for lucky folks in the US, Jason – for European models they limit recording time so they don’t have to pay the more expensive “camcorder” tax. 🙁
Or at least I think that’s what happens. -
I bought a second hand Panasonic GH2 and spent the big money on the 12-35 f2.8 lens. I got a Tascam DR100 for audio, and some mini battery/mains LED panels. It’s a lot more fiddly than almost any camcorder, but I get a nice image. The GH2 is hacked so I can shoot long interviews.
Apart from being more fiddly, the only disadvantage of my setup compared to a camcorder is the lack of power zoom. On the plus side it’s cheaper, has the shallow depth and a really nice lens. And can also be a stills camera with an external flash.I use a JVC HM150 too, which is lovely in that you can just plug XLR mics straight in, but it doesn’t have the same shallow depth, and I think my GH2 is a little better in low light.
I chose GH2 rather than GH1 because of the “ETC” crop-zoom which can bump up zoom without dropping optical quality, but I think the noise shows up more when using it in lower light situations.
I assume your 4K budget is dollars, but I think that should easily cover a camera, lens and useful accessories, especially if you go for some second hand.

January 8, 2014 at 11:22 am in reply to: Changing a nested multicam sequence from 720p – 1080p without upscalingI think you could make a new 1080 sequence and copy the entire contents of the 720 sequence into it. If you’ve applied scaling to all the clips, you could use “paste attributes” to update the scaling on all the clips.
Does that sound like it’ll work?
Good luckPaddy, CreativeMedia.org.uk

Nice tip (re using InDesign + stylesheets and exporting PNGs) ! I hope I get a chance to use that one sometime.

Urkh! This took me a while to work out, so I’ll see if I can remember (bear in mind I’m using CS6, not cc)
I wanted consistent burned-in (ie actually on the video) subtitles in a particular font and size, with a black translucent box so,
1. I set up a new title the way I wanted it.
2. I clicked the little Templates button with the Ts on it at the top of the main Titler design window
3. I clicked the triangle button in the resulting dialogue box and chose “import current title as template”I then set up a new keyboard shortcut to do New Title, based on template. I’ve only got one template, so whenever I press apple-shift-T, I get a new title based on that template.
If I position the playhead where I want to put the title, it’s easy to put it in the right place.
If anyone knows an even easier way of doing this, let me know! 🙂 I put subtitles on the talks that I edit when the audience shout out nearly unintelligible questions without using the roving mic 🙁
I hope that’s what you needed.

January 7, 2014 at 11:32 am in reply to: Recapture clips without losing them in sequence? When you say “different audio paths”, do you mean you’re using the same video clips but with different audio?
I wonder if you can open the original clips in QT Pro and replace the audio tracks (you can even leave the original audio there but unticked)?
Or do you really need to do a full recapture? If so, I’m worried that the recaptured clips might not be an identical length to the first ones, so when you relink, you may run into trouble.Whatever you do, I’d recommend moving rather than deleting the original clips until you’re sure the new ones have slotted in ok.
I hope that helps
