  • Changing a nested multicam sequence from 720p – 1080p without upscaling

Hey… so I have a big problem. :S I’ve got about 14 editing projects in 720p (from 1080p footage) that I need to re-render in 1080p. All of them rely heavily on multicamera sequences and I’m wondering if there’s a way to quickly change the scale of my sequences, without having to just upscale the main edited sequence from 720 to 1080 on rendering (which would obviously not make use of the true 1080p resolution in my base clips).

If it were After Effects I would simply change the compsition size to 1080p, starting with the sequence I’m using as the basis for my mutlicamera edits and working my way outwards, everything would end up in true 1080p no problem, but since you can’t change the frame size of sequences in premiere, I’m unsure how to do it.

Of course I could re-edit every single cut by hand in brand new 1080p sequences but that would just be impractical. :S

Does anyone have any ideas? Would really appreciate any suggestions on this one, I swear there has to be a better way of doing this than re-editing by hand.

    Many Thanks!

I think you could make a new 1080 sequence and copy the entire contents of the 720 sequence into it. If you’ve applied scaling to all the clips, you could use “paste attributes” to update the scaling on all the clips.
Does that sound like it’ll work?
    Good luck

Load your 720P sequence in the Source Monitor. Drag that sequence from the Source Monitor into a new 1080P sequence, then scale the nested sequence to fit.

Right click on the sequence in the Project Panel and change the Editing Mode to the 1080 flavor of your choice.

Premiere also has a “Scale to fit” command for clips in a sequence…
