Dude, thanks for giving me a heads up. I’m making a 30 min video that’s got over 50 graphic with dynamic links to AE comps. I’m having problems right now due to the fact that for some reason DL looses the direction to the AE file, so its giving me a MEDIA OFF LINE screen. So I’m still far away from the render process. I moved from FCP to Premiere pro because I liked the idea of not rendering between video editor and graphics composer. But it’s definitely not working for me. I might be moving back to FCP after this project.

March 26, 2009 at 4:04 pm in reply to: Intensity or Decklink Studio for monitoring

I use intensity and it works awesome with Final Cut, plus my deck has HDMI output so I capture my video using blackmagic’s motion jpeg at 4:2:2 at full 1920×1080 skipping HDV video codec for 300 bucks. My only problem is that I’ve been trying to switch from Final Cut to Adobe Premiere, and I cant due to the fact that there are no drivers for CS4 on Mac. I’m sure this wont be an issue in a few months.

It’s a bit expensive considering you can get 4:2:2 with a panasonic HVX200 for less cash. I do love all of sony’s in camera features, like the smooth transition effect and depth of field indicator. I’ve rented a EX1 few times and love the fact that I can use it as my own, since I own a Z1U the work basically the same way. But I see the EX1’s 35mb/s and true 1920 horizontal resolution as a small upgrade from HDV. Considering HVX’s 4:2:2 and 50mb/s for less cash.

    Is there something I’m missing?

That’s too bad, I really enjoy the soft transition feature (and over use it sometimes), and the mattebox and follow focus is at least a couple of thousand dollars. Is there like a Panasonic wish-list? That is hands down my favorite feature on my camera.

you will be transcoding you files as prores 422, you will be working faster than with HDV. It is said to be leaner on your machine than dvcpro hd.

  • Are you transcoding to Prores 422 or keeping it in AVCHD????

Could it be that your sequence is 30p and your video 24p????

Have you tried capturing at 30p????? does it still go out of sync??????

  • I don’t have a HMC 150, but I’ve been reading a lot about it because I’m seriously considering changing my Z1U’s to HMC’s, and reading about AVCHD I found this:

    https://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/finalcutpro/support.html

Click on the video tutorial of “logging and transfer”

I found it very interesting and a nice version of logging and capture for solid media.
