Stroking my layer…..
Posted by Pablo Hill on May 11, 2009 at 9:59 pmThis is driving me insane….. How do I stoke a layer (not text, just a layer with video or image) in Premiere CS4.
Thanks
Pablo

May 12, 2009 at 3:03 amNo stroke in Premiere, that’s a job for After Effects, and especially if you are adding perspective as you will soon see those ugly jagged edges since Premiere doesn’t support antialiasing either.
You could get close with the bevel effect, add 2 of them at opposite light angles at a thickness of about 0.01 to 0.04. Then play with the intensity until you get an even stroke, not a perfect solution…

May 12, 2009 at 3:46 amI use the grid effect in CS3, with good results.
Example: on 720×480 footage
Anchor: 716,480
Size from: Width & Height
Width: 640
Height: 479
Border: 20
Blending mode: NormalAdjust the parameters to taste.

May 13, 2009 at 2:06 amIf the grid effect isn’t your cup of tea, how about using the radial shadow effect? Tick the resize layer box, turn the opacity to 100%, and place the light source in the center of your layer. Then adjust the projection distance for thickness. Simple – no need for plug-ins.
