this is a very painful experience.

i’ve got my video as the background and thats animating but i cant get the buttons to show up when the video text has animated in, i.e. 5 seconds after the first play making them selectable. also when i import the photoshop file it inserts a black background covering up the video behind which is not my desired look.

all i want is the buttons to replace the text animation at 5 seconds then loop until someone has selected the chapter then disappear to be replaced by the background animation fading out the text and moving image, que start of film.

what do i need to import it the buttons as, timeline, asset, menu, slideshow and how do i stop the background from going black. at the moment when i drag and drop the photoshop file i have converted into a timeline onto the menu is just creates 1 preset button instead of the 4 buttons i have created and they appear at first play instead of appearing at 5 seconds.

i’m not just posting to have an easy ride, i’ve literally spent hours on the computer since the weekend trying to figure this out, watching tutorials and reading articles. i can’t believe there is nothing on animating text in and out, it seems it should be a simple and frequently used task!

If you want to make your thumbnail animation in After Effects, then use the same comp as the video background you created, and create your animated thumbnails there. Then render it out and import the video file, then make it the video background for your menu.

i have done this but how do i make the program recognize there are buttons on a rendered video? this is the main problem i am having.

ahhh this helps a lot in understanding the rates, still unsuccessful though! i am trying to export with the media encoder, i dont no if that what i am supposed to be doing. it’s the first time i am exporting in HD so am un familiar with even the basic setup to export it correctly in the first place. i probably should of mentioned that in the original post. sorry.

how many editors does it take to screw in a light bulb? ha, lucky for me i’ll be going off to do 3d computer animation then!

make your template with all the lines on photoshop and either make the background green or transparent(PNG file to keep transparency) then add it onto of your footage and resize so it looks good.

to get a red flashing dot you can u make a tiny circle colour it red then paste it every 5-6 frames along the line so it blinks, thats the simplest way. alter where u paste to for a slow or fast blink

and for the time you can just insert time code with premiere pro and final cut i think.

i had to create the effect and thats how i went about doing it, very very simple but quite effective, there are loads of different more complicated ways to do it though.

sorry man,

its the camera movement around the layers of the eye, its all un even and sketchy because i have just used the orbit tool and key framed positions. as the keyframes build i have less control over the camera motion and it ends up like that link, sketchy.

is there an expression that lets you revolve round the layers keeping the motion smooth and the time even?

the only problem is that i can’t afford it and i cnt find a crack for the demo =( i’m just a poor student who needs to have a quick fix because my final major project adopts this technique a lot.

the problem is sorted now, yea i opened it up in audition and change it to a WAV file then replaced it in the comp and everything works all fine now.

just got to sort some of the issues out like dimensions still for some reason.
