    hey,

i am working on a experimental film at the moment for my college course. basically its about how cctv is getting more involved with society as we know it. what i’m questioning is why cctv cameras are hidden to look like lamp posts, if they painted them lime green glow in the dark surely they would prevent crime in the first place instead of having to catch the criminal.

this is a clip (ignore the titles and reflection grid) that i want to incorporate into my film – https://www.vimeo.com/187846

    (little back story there sorry)

btw that clip is rubbish and very old and rough, i really want to sort out the camera movement so its actually looks good instead of it being a sketchy freestyle and messy.

can anyone help me out with a tutorial or some advice with anything todo with cameras. i really want to master camera movement in the near future and any help would be awesome.

cheers for taking the time to read this.

    ollie

Can’t read you mind, buddy. What part of that clip is relevant to your post? What are you asking about? Camera movement for a remote cctv system, video cameras in general, or camera movement within After Effects’s 3D environment?

    sorry man,

its the camera movement around the layers of the eye, its all un even and sketchy because i have just used the orbit tool and key framed positions. as the keyframes build i have less control over the camera motion and it ends up like that link, sketchy.

is there an expression that lets you revolve round the layers keeping the motion smooth and the time even?

For even pacing you can use roving keyframes. Or take a 3D null, rotate it around the Y-axis, then parent the camera to the rotating null to orbit around an object.

… and you do have to make a camera … never use AE’s default camera. But you knew that. 🙂
