Made this small render test in 2013

    Sony Vegas Pro 12 (Build 563) 64bit – used 9 stk. H.264 (.mts) 24Mbits footage – length 01:00 min.
According to Sony – the Sony AVC template, in Sony Vegas Pro 12 build 563, was a beta Kepler version !

MainConcept AVC template only CPU rendering:

    GTX 660 : 01:55
    GTX 580 : 01:48

    MainConcept AVC template CUDA rendering:

    GTX 660 : 01:49
    GTX 580 : 00:29

Sony AVC template only CPU rendering:

    GTX 660 : 01:06
    GTX 580 : 01:01

    Sony AVC template GPU rendering:

    GTX 660 : 00:55
    GTX 580 : 00:55

    Yes !

It is easy to switch between Optimized Media and original footage in Davinci Resolve ! Just uncheck: Use Optimized Media if Available !

“So, for now the workflow will probably be h264 footage -> MPEG Streamclip/transcode to pr422 -> import/cut in Resolve -> export to Compressor -> crunch to mp4 (most of the time for me, anyway).”

First, try to import your H.264 to Davinci Resolve and use Generate Optimized Media and see how it goes with the editing
and then switch to the original footage before starting to color grade !

Or do like this and then switch to the original footage before starting to color grade !

    Hi Graham

The GTX 560 Ti, is a nice Fermi Architecture card.

Had one GTX 560 Ti (384 Cuda core), which was perfectly with GPU and CUDA in Sony Vegas pro –
then I switched to a GTX 660 Ti Architecture card (1344 Cuda cores). The GTX 660 Ti, was okay for Premiere Pro – but not for Sony Vegas !

The GTX 660 Ti was a no go for Mainconcept – Sony change the AVC template, so the GTX 660 Ti, was okay for GPU rendering !

Why do you want two graphics cards ?

Vegas Pro only support a single gpu !

Davinci Resolve 12.5 free Windows version supports two gpu’s – BUT only one gpu for processing and one gpu for display – so if you want two gpu’s for Davinci Resolve 12.5 free version – buy a cheap gpu for display !

    My system
    Intel i7 5960x 8-core
    Asus Deluxe II motherboard
    64GB Memory
    4. SSD and 3. Harddrive 7200/10.000 rpm
    1300W psu
    Two AMD R9 390x 8GB GPU’s
    BlackMagic Intensity Pro 4K card
Davinci Resolve 12.5 Studio – full version

Why don’t you get the Panasonic GH4R model – then you get unlimit recording time and V-Log L ?

You can buy the GH4R in UK – look at cvp.com !
