I’d love to know about this too. Strongly considering getting a Panasonic plasma for a cozy clients corner.

Can i have sound from my built in sound card during playback ?
No. Only trough a supported Decklink card.

And could I use the DVI port of the GT120 or one of the GTXs (YES ! Its here too 🙂 for outputting video to HDMI ?
    No.

Take the course on FXPHD, it will get you up to speed. You will get to know the interface and know how things are done. Once you have your license, you know what to do and how to get the job done in the new GUI.

  • Here we go again…. 😉

You have sync problems for audio/video if you playback through a video card and watch the video on your computer monitor in the FCP GUI. If you look at the video monitor however, everything is in sync. It’s the same case in DaVinci.

  • Even if I have this much latency, I don’t see it, nor do I bother about it.

Audio needs to go through the Decklink card (XLR or AES/EBU) and can then be passed through to any other soundcard or whatever.. I feed the sound through a Focusrite Saffire soundcard – works like a charm. Audio is in sync with video on video monitor.

December 8, 2010 at 10:39 pm in reply to: MASK – How to create a 4:3 Aspect Mask

I believe I just wrote something about this recently ?

Here’s howto in a few quick and dirty steps:

  • Make a document with the same resolution and pixel aspect ratio you’ll be using
  • Marquee tool
  • Make it work in FIXED ASPECT mode
  • Type 4:3
  • Now, click and drag from top left to bottom right, and you’ll get a 4:3 selection
  • New layer, fill layer with black, select all (cmd+a) and center the layer
  • CMD+click the thumbnail of your layer to select the 4:3 square you made.
  • Invert selection and fill with black. Disable the previous layer.
  • You should now have a 4:3 pillar box..

Second that. A quick heads up on the +s and -s would be of great help.

Of course. I just didn’t understand what all the fuzz was about since I’ve never had this problem myself, but I see you got my idea. 🙂

    Good luck and happy automating.
