been using 8.1 on V64 business since it came out. Have 8c but hardly use it. no problems with .mov or any other file, so far.

    Hi Adam.

Did you install the Quicktime 32?

I installed Vista 64 Ultimate on a new machine, and then installed 8.1. Vegas 8.1 wants Quicktime and gives me a download link, but then when i go to download it, it recommends not installing the 32 bit Quicktime.

Should I image my C drive, and then go ahead and install QT32? or is there some other preferable workaround? Does anyone know?

    Thank you,

    Norman

    Hi Peter.
I see you are back on the forums. I am still stuck. Can you please help? Please?
Does this perhaps have anything to do with the paging file? Do I need to shut the paging file off (or rather, down to the minimum) to get better performance?
Can you please give me some recommendations? Please? Because I am stuck, and want to learn how to use Boris.
    Thank you,
    Norman

OK, sorry for all of the Noob questions. I did some more research, and found out that Red should run on a GeForce OK, although not as well as a Quadro, but it does not seem like the GeForce should be the cause of Red taking forever to play/render/RAM preview.

I know you are probably still on vacation, but when you get back in, it would really be a blessing to be able to get back on Red.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Yeah, thanks. They include Instant HD in the suite, but do not include Instant HD Advanced.

I suppose when the time is right I will download the trial suite, and see what I can do with it.

    Thank you.

    Hi Paul.

Thank you for telling me that!

I had it on my wish-list to purchase Instant HD Advanced before Magic Bullet, so you just saved me from an unnecessary purchase!

I will try to follow your procedure once I get there. Right now I am still wading my way through Douglas Spotted Eagle’s DVD set on Vegas 4 (which is outstanding).

I’m going to try to get up to speed on Photoshop after I learn Vegas, so I will try to follow your recommendations then.

    Thank you!

Also, as a completely separate issue, assuming we can figure out whatever I am doing wrong in Red, how much difference is an Nvidia Quadro card going to make over my existing NVidia GeForce card?

Thank you very much for your help.

    Hey Peter.

Thanks for your quick response. I got waylaid by some things, but hopefully now I can get back to Boris.

I am in draft mode. Open GL, max texture caching is enabled. Boris is opened in stand-alone mode.

I pressed Ctrl-0, and it still moves really slow. After five minutes, the subtitle has performed maybe 30 degrees rotation.

Hardware is Dell Inspiron E1720 with Windows Vista Business (ugh), 4GB RAM, and 4GB ReadyBoost RAM. The graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce 8600GT +256 MB. The CPU is averaging maybe 70% usage on each core, while the memory shows perhaps 55-60% free.

I’m all ears. And thank you, I very much appreciate your help.

I deeply apologize. I was not trying to suggest anything. I am a total noob to video editing. I just saw your name, and was trying to check out what you were saying. I apologize if I misunderstood you at all.

I will try to convert all .jpg’s to .png, and see if that helps. I apologize if I upset you in any way.

Thank you very much for your help.

    Hi Douglas.

Are you saying there is no advantage to converting to .png?

    Thanks
