upconvert SD to HD
Posted by Rick Wise on December 5, 2008 at 7:06 pmIs there a good, effective, and reasonably priced add-on for Vegas that will allow one to upconvert old SD footage to HD?
Or, one as a stand-alone?

December 5, 2008 at 8:09 pmThere is an SD to HD upresolution plugin available
for Sony Vegas in “Boris Red” (UpRez). The best work-flow still to me, for HD Up-resolution is
using “Instant HD” or “Topaz” in After Effects.Steve Rhoden

December 5, 2008 at 11:00 pmYeah…i know about it…gave it a whirl sometime back,
but wasn’t too pleased all round…does not have that
professional touch, workflow and tweakability that i
wanted. Though for a $30 standalone the result was not
too bad. However through extensive tests, I concluded
that the work-flow i mentioned earlier yielded the utmost
results.Steve Rhoden

December 6, 2008 at 8:51 pmDang, you’re right, Steve. I tried a free trial download. Couldn’t get anything better than my original SD. Maybe I don’t know how to use this.

I don’t think thats the issue Rick…We are Professionals,
and to get the results we want, we have to use professional
tools.(Deemon $30 video enhancer does not fully fit that bill).Nothing better than just shooting in HD, But for such
intricate task of converting SD to HD when needed, i suggest
just investing in “Topaz Enhance” or “Magic bullet Instant HD”
or if you want to do all that in Vegas, go for “Boris Red”.Steve Rhoden

I wrote BorisFX, and they said UpRez was not available for Vegas, but only for Avid and Premier.
Can you please help me find the filter you are talking about?
Thank you.

The people of Boris FX are only partially right when they say that uprez is not available for Vegas since your Boris RED can function as an adapter for AE plugins. Once you have installed Boris Red or Boris FX, you can install the uprez plugin for AE in the plugin folder of Boris. Then Uprez is available from within Vegas via the Boris plugin.
For me this works great…The uprez plugin can be obtained from here:

Thank you, Steve.
Do you use both of these programs? Or may I please ask which of these programs you prefer, and why?
Thank you very much.

https://www.borisfx.com/units/upRez.phpHi Theo. Thank you for this!
It is a long story but I got the video editing dumped in my lap, and am trying to get up to speed. Everyone says After Effects is a great plug-in to have, so I think I am going to get that in addition to RED. I have a few more programs to work through first, so we can start filming and editing, but hopefully I can get to this soon.
Thank you for your help!
