I think his concern is that once he transcodes to ProRes the file sizes will be much larger. And it may or may not fit in his internal bays.

I tried putting the size to 33%, and it looked good on screen, but the resultant file came out at 300% size (still. Same place it was).

Is there some way I can drop the size on the output down to normal scale? Or should I look to print this on an LP? 🙂 lol.

Thanks for your directions. I was able to make the Amaray case just fine, but the rulers in the supplied .pdf for the DVD Disc Face are three times too large. Their on-screen 1.0″ is an actual 1.5″ when you set the scale to 50%, and at 100% their 1.0″ is 3.0″, so the resultant Disc Face Template comes out too big.

I can set the size to 33% and get my .jpg, but is there some way to resize their template rulers down to life-size scale? Or does CreateSpace just need to post a new .pdf?

Two questions:

1. Why do you stick it out with Sony Vegas? Why not just switch, or roll back to a version that works for you?

2. Why would Sony taking over the product have anything to do with the reliability of the platform. Didn’t they keep the same software engineers?

OK, I ordered the CS5 book and DVD from Amazon.com. It should be here sometime next week. I only have CS2 at the moment, but I am pretty sure it will translate 🙂 I am on Vista x32 on this box.

One immediate issue: When I go into My Documents, all of my .pdf files now show a Photoshop icon, instead of the former .pdf icon. When I double-click them, sometimes they open in Photoshop, and other times they open in Adobe Reader.

How can I switch the .pdf file association and icons back?

Can you try the Vegas 9.0e x32? I am running x32 on Vista x64 (because Sony Noise Reduction 2.0 is only x32) and it seems to run well.

How big is your resultant MPEG-2?

If it is larger than your media, can you modify the bitrate downward using a bitrate calculator, so it will all fit on the disk?

Questions:

1. What’s your budget?
2. Can you do a sample 1GB file conversion?
3. Can you connect via iSCSI?

I don’t know how ProRes and Cineform .avi/.mov compare, but when I transcode AVCHD footage to Cineform .avi, it generally makes the file size 5 times as large. So can you give us a sample conversion?

If you purchase a Drobo Pro and stuff it full of eight each 2TB drives, it should give you approximately 10.89 TB of storage with dual redundancy (so you don’t need to buy enterprise class drives).
