  • Yup there sure is. Voids the warranty though so we can’t recommend it. Google if you want more info.

That I don’t know. The thing is that the original DVX100 was solidly engineered. I’ve got one and never had reason to upgrade to the A variant. The HVX200 will be as good as can be when it ships. Whether there’s a revision or not is impossible to predict. And there’s always something better around the corner in this biz.

I don’t expect to see the DVX100 revised again. It’s doing very well in its category and there’s not a whole lot more they can do to it without a major change. And that’s what the HVX is for.

I suspect there could be a little wiggle-room here and there in terms of minor tweakbut most of the work is done and Panasonic is releasing final information as it becomes . Don’t forget that Jan has been on these boards for years. I know for a fact that some of the HVX design features were due in part to past comments from the DVX100 boards. And also remember that it takes years to bring these kinds of products to market. It’s a very long road map and we’re only now seeing the very end of it publically for the HVX200.

Very true- I was going to say these are excellent suggestions for next gen cameras. Perhaps we’ll see them on the D5 prosumer camera in 2010. 🙂

he he- I think the point everyone is missing is that it’s too late for these sorts of requests. Camera is done- end of story.

Yep- FCP has the best support for Panasonic’s stuff. It supports P2, DVCPRO50 and DVCPROHD natively. Definitely the way to go.

Hmm- have thought about this specifically. I would tend to think you’ll be able to record to hard drive without a P2 card loaded. It wouldn’t really be like Panny to *force* you to buy P2.

I’d suggest seeking out an audio gear forum- not really a speciality around here.
