Looked at the new camera at Nab. I admit I know nothing about their dv codecs. Maybe some of you have an answer for me. In searching it looks as of now that only FCP will read the P2 card or the Avid Newscutter. I have a Adobe setup. another question what NLEs read the Panasonic dv codec as of right now ? Thanks for any info you may have.

Thanks for the link Noah. I did not see you at NAB this year. What do you think of the new Panasonic camera from what you saw. Also I belive you are a FCP user ? Does it support the Panasonic codecs DVCPRO 50 ? I am still old sbhool aith my DVD200 and really look foward to getting away from tape

AFAIK, the software that will read the DVCPROHD codecs are:
    FCP HD
Canopus Edius Broadcast (with the PRO HD codec)
    Avid xPress Pro HD
Pinnacle Liquid Edition with the broadcast option

MainConcept makes a DVCPRO/PRO50 codec that can be used in other software like Vegas and Premiere. Perhaps MC will make an HD codec available later this year.

Yep- FCP has the best support for Panasonic’s stuff. It supports P2, DVCPRO50 and DVCPROHD natively. Definitely the way to go.
