Bottom line- switching to 23.98 at this stage in the project will take a major amount of time and effort and gain you little *unless* you want to do a film output.

Nope- unless your shoot day is worth less than the price of a tape never reuse. Just not worth it.

Not exactly the case. 16:9 in standard definition is still 720×480- the pixels are vertically compressed. This is called anamorphic 16:9. For a lot more info on how aspect ratios work, see this link:

The 100a also offers a 16:9 electronic squeeze mode which gets you as close to native 16:9 quality as possible without using an anamorphic adaptor- much better than letterbox 4:3 mode. There is also the HVX200 on the way which gives you full native 16:9 and throws in all kinds of HiDefinition capabilities too- though for a price.

Compressed once- where and with what codec? Anything that didn’t start as NTSC video could be an issue- i.e. a clip compressed with Sorenson or Cinepack.

As far as I know-no. You can easily export QuickTime files back and forth but I don’t know that the direct project level intergration is there with Express. I suspect it’s just one of those many features reserved for the pro version.

16:9 and 4:3 are available in the 480 modes. I suspect in the 720 and 1080 modes it is only 16:9 as they are native 16:9 formats.
