I find the Manfrotto/Bogens to be a great deal for the money- Vinten is ok too though IMHO not always worth the extra $.

If you still have the Motion project you can go back and reload media into the appropriate layers yes.

Why not just edit in HDV? You’ll only be adding noise and taking up more drive space by transcoding to DVCPROHD while no adding any definition. If you want a better codec- use the Apple Intermediate Codec- it’s a preset for HDV conversion and does the best job of preserving HDV originated material.

If you mean discrete frames you could extract in post- yes of course. If you mean stills that are larger in resolution than 1080p or 720p- no. For that- you should have a dedicated digital still camera as that is what they excel at. That said, I’ve gotten excellent 300 DPI stills with post sharpening out of the SDX900 which is 480p. So I’d expect even better results from 720 and 1080.

You can control with the highlight layer appears. Anything else needs to be made as part of the motion menu video.

I’d agree with that- though Canon is being silly with their description of this frame mode. They really need to explain exactly what they mean by 24f and exactly how it differs from 24p.
