Converting 25fps HDV into a 24fps DVCPROHD File with FCP
Hello,
we start shooting our student project in two weeks with a varicam and for financial reasons i fear that we have to shoot some shots on a sony hdr fx1 hdv camera. The editing system is fcp 5.
My question is, if and how it is possible to get the 1080i 25fps cineframe footage of the hdv together with the 720p 24fps footage of the varicam in one fcp project. My idea was the following:-convert the hdv material to 720p 25fps dvcpro hd via compressor.
-conform the framerate from 25 to 24 via cinema tools.
-import the forme hdv footage to the dvcpro hd 24fps timeline and edit. But I am not sure if it’s possible to create 720p 25fps dvcpro hd files with compressor or only 24fps video. If that’s the case, what different possibilities do I have?
And the other question if have: What is the purpose of that framerateconverter software for fcp by Panasonic? I think it has something to do with the speedramp function of the camera, but I’m not sure how to use it and what exactly it does.
Can you help me?
Thanks in advance…
