I’ve found some of these standalones do create uncopiable discs. Not sure whether this is some sort of copy protection or just a quirk of standalone burners.
The way I do it is to save out the video as an image sequence. Then you create a new material. Assign the first frame as a texture in either the Color or the Luminance channel. You can also use in the Alpha depending on the effect you’re looking for. Click on the animation tab of the channel and click calculate. You won’t see the video update in the preview window but it will on the renders. Here’s a tutorial that explains it much better:
I’m not aware of any official price protection- we’re not talking Best Buy here after all. But perhaps you can talk your dealer into something, so give them a call. If not chalk it up to the price of the bleeding edge.
Don’t see why not if they are QuickTime codecs it should be fine. You’ll may see better quality with the Animation codec or going uncompressed out of Motion.
