Powerbook crashing after log & capture w/HVX
My buddy & I just got our HVX’s. I get mine today , he picked his up last night.
He had an odd problem running direct into his powerbook via firewire.
It seemed to capture fine, but when he closed the log & capture window it tended to crash. Sometimes also when he opened the log & capture window. Often it crashed after capturing when he just left the window to hit save in the browser. Drove him nuts!
It’s a 1.67 GHz 17″ Powerbook w/1.5Gig RAM running FCP 5.04.I doubt whether he actually tried a plain old DV capture as a test. He was probably always going HD.
Is this unusual? Any ideas.
The good thing is that he has never lost any footage.
Are there settings he should change in FCP? -

You guys got delivery on your HVX200, yes ?
from what distributor ?
are you guy business comsumers, or distributors for Panasonic ?Just trying to figure out if Panasonic has made a new shippment.

Make sure you have all of the latest software updates from Apple.

Yes, there seems to have been a good sized shipment made on the 28th, so dealers got quite a few units yesterday; I saw the UPS truck unload five of them at Birns and sawyer in Hollywood, but don’t bother, they’re probably all gone by now!

check to see if your camera is in 1394 Host or Device mode (it is under the “other settings” menu I think)
