Totally go the opposite. Otherwise you’ll greatly notice the softness and lack of detail in the wides in comparison to the sharper looking closeups. Shoot the closes with the DVX and the wides with the SDX and you’ll get a much better match.

Cutting 720p in DVCPROHD is not much more involved than cutting in DV with FCP. The data rates are higher by a factor of 3 to 4 depending on your shooting mode, but not requiring raids or the like. It can be cut on a stock powerbook with the built-in hard drive for example. You would then have a solid master for the downconvert and upconvert.

Anything else is simply an NTSC, PAL and/or overseas model variants of the same cameras.

Have you considered switching to a solid state or hard drive based playback solution? It would be a lot more reliable than DVD-Rs long term. For example- a video Ipod could be used in place of a DVD player/disc.

Drop off how? They are the same thing only different ways of storing the frames on the cards. 24pN gives you exactly 24 frames per second native with no 3:2 pulldown and no wasted space.

Most folks I know these days are shooting 720p 24pn for FCP.

Possibly saved with a later version of Illustrator so that’s probably the issue.

Sure it is an incredibly versatile camera. And you have 6 scene files you can preset to help you switch fast with the potential for many more via the SD card.

Don’t forget the scene file settings need to be saved with the Save function at the end of the scene file menu in order to stay permanent.
