    Hi,

I’m using a DVX100B that is less than two weeks old for a test to see if I can pull off a vfx shot that requires a lot of tracking. After some trial and error I’ve determined that 30p is the only frame-rate and recording method that this camera can record enough detail for the tracking markers to show up in enough detail – theoretically, at least.

I’m running into an unexpected issue, though. I shot my test in 30p, captured it in FCP, exported an SGI file sequence, and imported the image sequence into Combustion for tracking. The problem is that I see interlacing artifacts in the clip inside Combustion. According to the DVX100 manual, each frame’s field should be pulled from the same frame so I don’t think I should be seeing interlacing. But there it is. So, does anybody know if this is normal? Is there some sort of pull-down removal process that is supposed to happen with 30p footage? Or, is 30p just 60i with a different name?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Turns out the camera didn’t remember my 30p setting in the menu and reverted to 24p for some reason. Sorry to waste y’alls time.

Don’t forget the scene file settings need to be saved with the Save function at the end of the scene file menu in order to stay permanent.
