Best DVD-R media for long-term playback?
We make DVD programs for museums. Some of our programs play on a loop, all day everyday for up to five years. We’ve been using Verbatim DVD-R inkjet printable 8x (no paper labels, and with no inkjet printing – just a scrawl with a CD-marker). We are starting to get some errors in playback on our industrial Pioneer DVD players. Some after a few months of play, some after longer periods. We usually provide the client with multiple discs which they just swap out when any errors occur, but perhaps there is a better way to do this….
What is the best DVD-R media for long-term playback? Many thanks for any replies –

Have you considered switching to a solid state or hard drive based playback solution? It would be a lot more reliable than DVD-Rs long term. For example- a video Ipod could be used in place of a DVD player/disc.

More on topic I suggest Maxell….In my opinion the best DVD-R media out there.

… a bit more searching on other forums shows that Taiyo Yuden seems to be the stock of choice for pro users, followed by Verbatim.
