I’d think you’d find the ghosting/antialiasing and general motion artifacts of most consumerish TVs to be highly distracting. Text will be blurry vs sharp. For that much $ you’re in the ballpark of a lot of decent LG, Dell, Sharp 4K/5K desktop monitors. That’s what I’d suggest instead.

Also if you want much greater masking controls- the SliceX/TrackX plugins do the trick.

Personally I rarely see the point as as soon as you make a change that alters the clip renders go away.

Main reason to render is to check full res and frame rate on complex compositions. Much less useful for speeding up final exports.

Yep- Rendering is generally at ProRes output. There’s no such thing as a rendered DVD as it could exist in a live timeline.

Boosting up the shadow levels a bit beyond 0 IRE would do the trick, maybe combine with a shape mask for a little variation.
