I would go ProRes HQ. LT is a bit low bitrate for the master codec format. FCPX is great for this because you can automatically optimize to that codec as you copy into FCPX. And you won’t necessarily need anything like EditReady, the flavor of ProRes generated by FCPX is the best it gets since its Apple’s own codec…

Well if you store footage externally it creates an alias inside your library which breaks if you then move everything manually in the Finder. That’s why FCPX has Library management and consolidation tools built in to enable you to move thungs arohnd without disrupting the database.

You can see the points on the primary storyline at all times and see the lines by selecting the clips for which you want to see lines or all of them if you want to see all. I found that information to be rarely useful though at times necessary. Not sure there’s more to it than that…
