In terms of live recording of keyframes there’s not a direct equivalent. However audio lanes can be used to powerful effect in terms of submixes you can apply effects to and set keyframe volume changes.

Perhaps the AVI files use an unsupported codec. Try opening one in QuickTime player and exporting to ProRes.

I would guess there’s a plugin that does that already- I would search around for that.

Teehee- I have no idea how much available space you have on your drives which would be another key consideration. Logically you would put as much as would fit on the external drive and edit proxy to keep things simple and smooth.

That would depend entirely on how much footage and at what resolution. I personally would pick up a cheapish Thunderbolt drive and use that for media.

I’d think it would be a huge waste of time in terms of any sort of collaboration with someone not using Hitfilm. But it’s worth a try of the free demo if you wanted to.

It’s your eyes that have to be happy but personally I find most consumer TV’s horrible for close-up viewing next to any decent computer monitor. They’re usually missing the proper scanning rates too so more eyestrain.
