Often you can get Resolve to still reconnect to the originals even if the FCPX edit used non FCPX-generated proxies. But that’s not a guarantee- best to test on a couple of clips first.

Depends greatly on the degree of stabilization being added- it’s designed to help mostly stable usable shots not turn handheld into tripod. Share an example shot for more advice.

Just a suggestion but making proxies outside of X and keeping those as your finishing media vs editing w internal proxies and finishing w the original h264a you might not see much difference in terms of final image quality. Whatever image quality lost in the initial capture to h264 won’t be recovered by wrapping a ProRes layer over it. And you’re adding a lot of extra workflow complexity in the process.

Depends on your system specs, resolution and # of streams. I cut in 4K on a MBP and find the performance benefits of proxy editing greatly outweigh the relatively minor extra storage requirement. Your mileage may vary.
