Interesting theory about the speakers but as SD cards and flash drives do not store data magnetically they are generally not affected by magnetic fields especially the relatively weak ones in speakers. More details about this here-

In my experience data corruption in decent brand SD cards is rare and is more related to issues with the camera such as firmware that needs updating or a card that hasn’t been reformatted in a while or corruption on the computer’s internal or attached storage.

If you go to Proxy in a 1080p timeline everything should look solid enough for cutting whether it’s 1080p or 4K to begin with. I personally wouldn’t go messing around with making my own proxies- more headaches for not much visual gain.

It’s not inconceivable those parameters do not exist in FCPXML. For maximum fidelity you want the project timeline itself not imported XML.

4K is fine in 1080p projects. FCPX will scale it to fit by default.

I suggest a fresh install of OSX and download FCPX from the app store on a freshly formatted hard drive- dragging the old version over brings a lot of stuff that you don’t want.

Possibly those are plugins from much older version of FCP. Make sure you do not have an old FCP install or its components on the system.

Yeah I suggest a screen shot. In FCPX, audio has to be always anchored to something and it cannot be just anchored to time as you would in other track-based NLEs.
