Hm – that’s a new one. How do I nest a project? (I don’t have FCP at hand for the moment).

Can I nest the project, apply broadcast safe and from there export to lossless (Sheer) for further conversion?

Thanks for the input, Jerry. The only advantage I’ve seen re-rendering after deleting the render files is that I free up disk space.

If that’s the only good thing, I can live with that it’ll take some time re-rendering (our Mac Pro is not the fastest machine anymore, but it seldom takes more than 15-20 minutes to render a sequence).

My delivery is DVD, but I always print out to DVCAM (that’s the format we have – and Betacam SP) for backup.

I re-installed the Sher video app. After re-start the settings I can choose when using QT Conversion in FCP are:

RGB(A) 10bf
RGB(A) 8bf
YCbCr 8 bw 4:2:2
YCbCr 10bv 4:2:2:4
YCbCr 10bv 4:4:4:4
YCbCr 8bv 4:2:2.4
YCbCr 8bv 4:4:4:4

No uncompressed settings….? But I’ll go for the RGB(A) 8bf, then.

I did download the try-out and installed. I have not tried to add the settings (I don’t know how to…)

I guess I have to try re-install Sheer Video.

My original footage is P2, 16:9 PAL 576i @DVCPRO50.

I do not have “Render all material as YUV” in Render Control for my Sequence setting….
But I found it under “Video Processing”.

I’m delivering the film on DVD, after noise filtering and compression to MPEG-2.

Thanks for quick response.

I have checked PAL and all other at default. (What about interlaced/progressive?)

But I do not find High precision rendering and I do not have Sheer10bUnc as an option, but Sheer RGB(A)10bf. Should I choose that?

Thank you. I eventually found this out and after some trial and error, I now get MPEG-1@512×288. Now I wish I’d find a way of doing the same with WMV (I have the WMV Studio HD from Flip4Mac, but the resulting file is unusable in my final app.)

IoHD on the iMac was just an option, as I wrote in my OP. As long FCP7 will work, I’m happy.

Gary – I’m fully aware of this. It just slipped my mind…
Our MacPro has a PCIe card with FW800 connectors. (We use FW800 disks for video).

Then the IoHD on the iMac is no issue. Remains whether or not FCP7 will run. But I’m in the wrong forum for that question. 😉

Thanks for the info. I suggest you add this info on the download section on your website. As it’s written now, people running anything else than FCP 7.0.1 might not update the driver.

Since I’m currently still in Leopard and FCP6, I’ll update the drivers right away.
