Well… I found a link to drivers from Silicons website. When I installed, I got kernel panic.

(No folder with incompatible hardware found upon reboot).

I tossed that installer in Trash, and I’m back with the LaCie driver still installed. (but no disks to mount, even if they are connected and powered on).

Right now I’m trying to find a dealer selling Sonnet here in Sweden. From what I can see, they have at least tested their eSATA cards with Snow Leopard…

(I’m starting to think about just plugging my eSATA drives into the chassie of the MacPro – that should at least work…)

But I guess it still won’t let my OWC Silver Elite AL eSATA/FW/USB enclosure mount… other than over FW.

Can’t find any name of the mfc.

However, the info about “Subsustem vendor ID 3132” may indicate that it uses that Silicon Graphics chip 3132 that does not work…

I found a beta driver, but I’m hesitant to install.

I’m fairly sure it’s not a Sonnet card, would my card work with their drivers anyway?

The Duel very easily comes out of the Express Card slot. Fortunately, it does not pop out while offloading my footage…

For the record Steve – how have you solved the problem?

I’m using a MacBook Pro, a Duel adapter and the HD Log software from Imagine Software. (For offloading ShotPut P2 would work, but that program did not exist when we started go P2).

Using the HD Log software, I offload to two Western Digital MyBook Passport edition 500 GB disks.

Then any of the disk is used for Log and Transfer. The same disk (or the other disk) is then backed up on other disks.

Thanks for the tip. The OWC housing looks great. They seem to ship international, too.

Now – was there an OWC case with buspower and drive sleds.

I guess you just can’t have it all…

But will a 5400rpm disk maintain enough speed for DVCPRO HD ? or must I always use 7200 rpm disks?

Thank you for your helpful information. Yes, our productions ends up on either DVD and/or web. No broadcasts (at least not for the moment…)

I think I start out with 720pN/25.

Used the Sheer codec today, with RGB 8bf. Everything looks just fine.
(And hopefully I have good files for archiving footage as well).

Yes, I know (after some testing together with Roger at Innobits) that you just can’t have illegal RGB values when processing video, even if FCP allows you to use overexposed footage.

What settings should I use when letting Purifier render out Sheer?

1. Shooting with AG-HPX500, using DVCPro50@576i.
2. Log and Transfer to FCP, still using DVCPro50@576i.
3. Edited timeline is exported to Sheer, using YCbBr, 8b, millions of colors, PAL. All other values in Sheer left as default.
4. Noise reduction in Video Purifier (https://www.innobits.com)
processed to and saved back in same Sheer settings as above.
5. Noise-reduced video is then opened in BitVice 2.9 (no DVNC, 16:9 setting, all other settings left as default).

Well… I was told that Sheer is a lossless codec, while DVCPro50 is not. That’s why I’m trying to use Sheer while processing (noise reducing) my footage, before encoding to MPEG-2.
