April 13, 2011 at 8:11 am in reply to: Final Cut Pro X Pro Users Only??

    Alex :

dude its WAAAAAAYyYY! to early to decide to jump. When you are in business like you are and so am i, decisions like these should not be made before you have ALL the facts. When FCP first came out i was an AVID guy, of course i spat on FCP then, by version 2 i was hooked and never looked back. After seeing a clip of magnetic timeline being demoed, a trackless timelines makes total sense to me, i was a bit confused at first but it makes sense.
Secondly, you say you have 10 FCP seat right ? do you ALONE edit on all those seats? LOL

When more info becomes available, Sit and talk with your editors and see how they feel and what they want. As management remember its not all about you, its about your staff and making them happy so you can get the job done.

And yes 299 is a good price. the entire final Cut studio has been selling for 799 for a while now. 6 pro apps for 799 = approx 133 per app. so please everyone calm down there are more presentations to come from apple so wait and lets see.

I Want a Tbolt SAN most of all but im sure ill have to wait for GEN 2 of thunderbolt for that. But my biggest question is this.
Considering the the Apple display port thingy = a thunderbolt interface, is it ok to assume that the GFX card in my MAC pro can be connected to a thunderbolt drive which in turn can be connected to a monitor?
    hmmm (scrathes head) any testers?

oh and found this little ditty ……. nice!!!!

No Actually it can carry a display signal and data at the same time in both directions at the same speed…. hence the power.
it uses the PCIe protocol which opens up a world of possibilities

So you have hard drive using it (Lacie already announced one) the HD can connect to your monitor ….. a whole daisy chained piece of goodness.

What im most excited about is seeing a Fibre thunderbold SAN come to market, ohh boy ….. i think i just wet my pants

March 3, 2011 at 4:14 pm in reply to: Arri Locaster LED Panel AC/DC

    Great to know Michael;
Im gonna get a double kit myself soon as well. I prefered them to the litepanels especially because of price but after doing research found the performance is WAY better as well. I also waiting for the LED fesnels Arri are developing instead of going with the SOLA’s.

Just found out the dimmer dial falls out as soon as you use it. and apparently it happens on all the sola 6 lights. Quality control litepanels ……

Its alot like firewire but with MUCH mor throughput and the ability to connect to monitors as well.

There are thunderbolt/mini display connectors to HDMI adapters so i assume alot of people will be using this initially . however profesional needs like SDI will still be around so im sure something like a Thunderbolt to SDI thingy will happen ….
with pro res acceleration etc etc similar to IOHD but with no FW.
As well this would facilitate professional monitoring

December 26, 2010 at 4:33 pm in reply to: D7000 Exposure in LCD

    LOLOL
    Hey Richard !

Yea i know i was being greedy with the over and under cranking (hangs head in shame) LOL.

but i do have lots of lenses with aperture rings as i’m a serious Nikon head and have a Letus adapter on my HVX.

got the D7000 about 1 week now. stuck my 24-85mm (F2.8-4) on it. (great lens) So i stick the camera in manual(M) mode. The F-stop/aperture ring on the lens is on the lowest (orange colour) value. but when i swing the magic LV lever i cant close or open the aperture. its stuck on whatever the value is at that time. as soon as i switch off live view i can change the F value with the front most scroll wheel just under the shutter button.
Exposure compensation, the button with plus /minus signs in it, i hold it down and scroll the main scroll wheel at back to change the value.
it does nothing to the image.

Remember Im in Manual mode, so im not sure if this is an issue.
tell me if im doing something wrong.

    now learning these DSLRS

as someone who has shot many videos, ill have to totally agree with Steve. However Steve, i have no intention of selling my HVX. Too useful a camera. And i’ve already invested heavily in P2. i wanna upgrade to a 370 but i dont see a reason just yet.
