I have had similar issues of media ‘swapping out’, but with video and audio, always in the same place, always with the same footage. It has happened a couple of times on 1 wedding but with entirely separate projects although both use nested vegs, but both use different source media. e.g. whilst the bride is getting ready, and then I nest the veg file to create a highlights project. The bridge getting ready ‘project’ is OK, but the highlights project has the gremlins. Am I making sense?
My workaround was to edit and render the project without restarting the project. I rendered the same project with ambient audio plus another with the audio overlay added, so if I had to make changes, I was not starting all over again.
Are you nesting vegs? If so, we might be onto something… .

Jay, what is your source footage? You don’t want to end up stretching or cropping footage, which typically happens when going from a 4:3 source to 16:9.
Ideally, your input source should match your output dimensionally.

Can’t see I have experienced this particular problem on either the 32 bit or 64 bit SVP10. Have you tried defaulting Vegas?
Hold down CTRL-SHIFT whilst starting Vegas.

It’s curious that the big fan worked for the laptop too… .

April 6, 2011 at 1:06 pm in reply to: how to render high quality video but smaller size?I’ve rendered a 6 minute promo video down to a 6 mb WMV file and it looks good on a web site, but as Douglas says, what is your output target and who is your audience?

April 4, 2011 at 4:27 am in reply to: Editing Computer for HD Video–Suggestions Needed. This PC will edit HDV or AVCHD:
Quad Core i7 series 2 eg. i7 2500K CPU. It makes previews in Vegas much smoother.
LGA 1155 motherboard from Intel or ASUS
Windows 7, 64 bit version
12 to 16 GB RAM
2 x SATA II HDD – 320 GB for C: drive, 1 x 1500 GB for F: drive
Nvidia GT470 or GT480 video card (this is a must for Vegas). ATI cards are no use.
DVD burner (or bluray if you want HD)
Support for USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports
I would recommend an 850W power supply
1394 firewire card if you intend to capture from tape some day
Sony Vegas Pro 9 will edit AVCHD, but if you want maximum compatibility, go to SVP 10. You can install both the 32 bit and 64 bit editions.

April 3, 2011 at 3:10 am in reply to: Anyone using a Sandy Bridge CPU (2nd Gen Intel iCore) with SVP10?I have not had any issues with MXF files and HDV for single track editing, but using Vasst Ultimate S 4.1 with Quadcam enabled and using the same files really drops the preview rate down, even on my grunty i7 system. I typically have to preview/edit in Draft most of the time.
Anything that will boost the preview will help!

The camera detection issue could be a firewall or operating system problem. What firewall and operating system are you running?

It sounds like a CPU cooling policy issue on the laptop, and a dust bunny issue for the PC.
Laptop
If you are running on a laptop and are using Windows 7, the default cooling policy is ‘passive’. I had this issue with my Acer laptop that kept on shutting down during renders. Once I changed it to ‘Active’ it was fine, but it does mean the laptop consumes more battery power. But, it renders!
If this is the case, “System cooling policy” is a power setting item for Processor under the Power options of Windows 7 -> change plan setting -> advanced power setting -> Processor power management.
PC
Rendering the with the side panel off and a big electric fan usually works.
Just out of curiosity, are your CPU’s Intel or AMD?
