    where is your viewer/delivery vehicle?
MP4 is somewhat the standard, and best for places like YouTube, Vimeo, etc.
You can reduce resolution, quality, or both.
What is your target file size?

Lowering the bitrate in the render, custom, video tab will also make the file size smaller.

I’ve rendered a 6 minute promo video down to a 6 mb WMV file and it looks good on a web site, but as Douglas says, what is your output target and who is your audience?
