Check this thread from a few years back. Still seems relevant:

Using DOS’ binary copy command, as you have discovered, is one way to merge your files. It’s good to be reminded now and again that simple techniques still work.

I think that is terminal 🙂

I have seen that happen in Nikon still cameras, and the CCD needed replacing. It is quite an expensive affair to replace, pretty much uneconomical. Pity, because you had a good camera 😉

Sounds like you might have enabled GPU acceleration. You might want to DISABLE it.

[Roger Bansemer] “My Z1U camera finally hit failed”

Roger, when you say failed, do you mean a dead tape transport? My Z1P, also of 2006 vintage, recently had a tape transport issue. I gave it a new lease of life with a Datavideo DN-60 data video recorder which records via fire wire. I picked up 2 units from B&H Photo in the US via mail order in the clearance section. The two recorders with 4 x 32 GB memory cards cost the same as the replacement of the tape transport! The recorder only captures DV and HDV.

You can always use the Z1U as a safety.

Sony is really having some quality control and regression testing issues. I heard somewhere that one of their lead developers for SVP left, and since then things have been going downhill.

It is frustrating when you are trying to make a living and have to put up with all this cr*p. When I first moved to SVP8, it was great and stable, and previews were like butter. SVP11 was probably the most unstable for me, but surpisingly, SVP12 appears to have reversed the downward trend, although there is still room for improvement.

I wonder if their is going to be a SVP13, or are they going to go to 14?

[Dave Petteruto] “The YouTube system regarding using music is far from perfect and it seems so “hit and miss” with what you can or can’t legally use”

I agree. We were warned by Sony against using ANY music relating to Michael Jackson last year for a scouts production last year. Even though the production is run by volunteers and we get nothing out of it financially, Sony was not interested and refused to grant us permission despite the Youtube system.

By the way, it’s is ‘Copyright’
