My Z1U camera finally hit failed. Had it since 2006 so time to get a new one. Ordered the AX3.

Looked at my Z1U to find out how many hours I had on it just out of curiosity. It reads: 141 x 10H

Can anyone decipher this for me?
    Thanks
    Roger

Roger, my uneducated guess would be that that means 1,410 hours.

That was my guess too but strange how they state it.

[Roger Bansemer] “My Z1U camera finally hit failed”

Roger, when you say failed, do you mean a dead tape transport? My Z1P, also of 2006 vintage, recently had a tape transport issue. I gave it a new lease of life with a Datavideo DN-60 data video recorder which records via fire wire. I picked up 2 units from B&H Photo in the US via mail order in the clearance section. The two recorders with 4 x 32 GB memory cards cost the same as the replacement of the tape transport! The recorder only captures DV and HDV.

You can always use the Z1U as a safety.

Roger, could you post a link to the ‘AX3’ you are going to buy?

Here’s the link to the camera I purchased along with some extra batteries, etc.
PS. I don’t want to know if you have found it somewhere else for less.

Not sure what the actual part problem is but there is no picture either in the eye piece or the monitor. It will record sound and it will play back already shot video from the past.

I think that is terminal 🙂

I have seen that happen in Nikon still cameras, and the CCD needed replacing. It is quite an expensive affair to replace, pretty much uneconomical. Pity, because you had a good camera 😉
