Capturing from tape poses a risk to the electronics of the camera. This is an old issue that plagues older tape based cameras such as the A1 and FX1, particularly Sony’s. We went through two FX1 camera repairs before Sony suggested we use one of these:

[Mary Waitrovich] “I used to have an Ultimate SPro license a long time ago and I discovered it doesn’t work with Vegas 12, my current version”
I am using it with 13, and have had no issues. Did you purchase Ultimate S Pro 4.1, and are you using the latest release?
Hopefully John Rofrano sees this post and assist. He’s the developer of the tool and an active contributor. I will post the URL he sent me, and have also emailed him to see if he can assist you by drawing his attention to this post.

Mary, this is probably something to consider in future. I use Vasst’s Ultimate S Pro for all my multicam editing work and doing what you suggest is a cinch in Quadcam: you just don’t create the master track (or mute it if you have done so) and just do a normal render. Whatever appears in the preview window will appear in the render. Simple. True WYSIWYG.
The multicam editing capability of Ultimate S Pro is much better thought out than the freebie that comes with Vegas, and adjusting takes is as simple as moving a marker. You have track and event level control when it comes to applying FX or grading your footage.
I have probably edited a couple hundred projects using Ultimate S Pro since Vegas 9. It’s a must have tool if you do lots of multicam work such as concerts and stage performances. Ultimate S Pro also has a few other included plugins for photo montage work, lower thirds and a few other goodies. [Mike Kujbida] “Click the Settings box in the lower left corner of the calculator.”
I’ve been using this calculator for years and never even noticed this button or clicked on it. Just learned something new! Thanks

Try DISABLING all video card acceleration and then render. I don’t bother with GPU acceleration and I get a 1:1 render time (on average) on my system. Vegas definitely benefits more with a fast CPU. The GPU acceleration is a waste of time. Sony didn’t/hasn’t implemented it well at all.

If you are using Windows 7, you might have to revert to the legacy fire wire driver

[Mike Kujbida] “I use Mark’s as well and when I entered your numbers, I got the following rates which are less than yours.”
Rick is using Dolby 5.1 audio which is 448 kb/s which is a lot higher than 192 kb/s of Dolby 1.0 🙂
Rick, it’s curious that the file is over 5.3 GB, and DVDA quite correctly refuses it. It should be close to 4.3 GB as per Mark’s calculator. Are you following the settings in the calculator exactly?
Are you then using AC-3 instead of PCM audio in DVDA?

I only hope that Sony does not go down the subscription/ransomware path with SVP14
