Sorry, forgot to also mention this little fact. There is a little glitch to this, there is going to be another camera used for this shoot as a second camera. It is a JVC GY-HD101E, which shoots HDV progressive or standard dv interlace only. No HD.

  • Hmmm, I said to my partner, if it wasn’t for forums like the COW and all we had to rely on were engineers from big companies like JVC, we would all be screwed 😉

  • Thanks for that, I had a bnc plugged into the video out, which went into a VCR for proof VHS tapes, I had the video input set to out instead of in, once I unplugged the bnc from the back of the monitor all was fine.

Thanks for that one, great help.

    Good advice as usaul.

    Cheers Jerry

  • Okay, sorted. I did the Firewire T transfer of data, then did a clean install, which didn’t overight my existing files, and all is not fine.

    Thanks

Thanks for that done. I was a tad concerned as I know Canon XL-H1 and Sony Z1 HDV footage do not mix on the time line, but this is obviously a HDV thing.

Will a mix of XL2 and Sony Z1 footage on the timeline be problematic?

Nice link to Ken Stone site. However, is there a PAL version of this 24p tutorial?

    Wrong:

I did a google search for:

    “pro camcorder formats”
    “professional camcorder formats”

and nothing came up that covered HD, HDV, DVCPROHD, XDCAM, D9 or Digibeta.

All Google came up with was Mini-DV and DVCAM.

So, I thought I’d check here, where the professionals hang out.

I know Adam’s site, and I totally admire the guy, but he too only seems to cover the basic Mini-DV and DVCAM formats.

What I am looking for is a long chronological list of all the digital formats from Mini-DV right through to HD-George Lucas and everything in-between, about 15 or so in total including the ones I mentioned.

I have been researching this for a couple of weeks, these posts are my last resort.
