Has Canon sorted the FCP sync problem yet?
Has Canon sorted the FCP sync problem yet? or has Apple sorted it?
I know a few years back when I had an XL1 and FCP4 they were simply incompatible due to the fact that Canon (unlike DVCAM) does not lock the audio. In fact, Final Cur Pro 3 had a check box in the prefs just for those using Canon cameras.
Personally, I found that, checked or unchecked didn’t make any difference and any clip over 5 minutes started to drift out of sync and even many small clips making up a 1 hour programme did the same thing. Over 1 hour I found that at the end of the hour the sound and images were about 1 second out; dreadful.
So, I sold the XL1 and got DVCAM instead.
Well, not I’m on the very latest FCP Studio package and am looking at a second camera that is native widescreen. JVC GY-HD101E seems to be out as I keep hearing about reliability issues, especially with power/transformers and cams just packing up. So, the XL2 seems like another alternative. I have two questions.
1. Will the XL2 and FCP5 still have those old anying (rendering the combo of Canon and FCP useless) sync issues?
2. Is the picture quality of the XL2 better than the XL1? (I had an XL1 and was not impressed with it’s image quality after I compaired it with a freinds JVC GY-GD500).
Thanks guys
