You can copy the compound clip from one project and paste it into another. No need for a workaround. I just double checked and it worked for me.

I don’t believe there is a way to move compound clips to the event viewer. Why not just dupe your project and work on the dupe? To me a project is simply what we used to call a sequence. Think of it in those terms and it’s just like duping sequences for different versions. Projects can be put into folder (by client or project name for instance) to keep them organized.

That’s some pretty good news on the color board. I haven’t used it too much yet but will be diving into it soon. I wish AJA would get those drivers sorted for my Kona card!!

I believe you’re right Tom. I had FCS on this computer (Macbook Pro) but wiped the drive and re-installed Snow Leopard including QT Player 7 and FCP X/Motion 5. Now I don’t have QT Pro capabilities. I’m going to try installing Livetype from my FCS package and see if that’s enough to re-enable it. I don’t need the full FCS install on my laptop since I’m basically going to use it for testing and transitioning to X.

New Info
To make the fade appear only at the junction of the two clips select the edge of one of the clips and hit Command T. Go to FCP Help and search “add audio crossfade”

right click at the intersection of two audio clips and choose ‘add cross dissolve’. If the clips are not in the primary storyline just select both and choose ‘create storyline’ (command G). FCP adds the dissolve to the in and out of the clips so it that is not what you want you have to delete the ones you don’t want.
