I wiped the drive on my laptop and installed Snow Leopard (including QT 7) and then FCP X. Now I do not have Pro functions in QT 7. Anyone else see this? I can’t find any info about it and wonder if I need to either purchase a key to unlock pro or re-install FCS. Does FCP X not unlock the Pro functions of QT 7? That would suck…

You need to optionally install it from the Snow Leopard DVD.

It is what? Pro or not pro? I think Apple may have removed the pro player from FCPX.

I believe you’re right Tom. I had FCS on this computer (Macbook Pro) but wiped the drive and re-installed Snow Leopard including QT Player 7 and FCP X/Motion 5. Now I don’t have QT Pro capabilities. I’m going to try installing Livetype from my FCS package and see if that’s enough to re-enable it. I don’t need the full FCS install on my laptop since I’m basically going to use it for testing and transitioning to X.

You could install FCP. I think that’s needed to trigger it, run FCP once, then use FSC Remover to delete. The QT pro functionality should remain.

When you installed Snow Leopard you have a newer version of QT. Apple removed the pro functions from QT. I installed FCS on my laptop with Snow Leopard and did not get a Pro version of QT.
Let us know if you find a solution.

There is no pro version of the QT X player. However the Snow Leopard install disc comes with the QT 7 player. This should always be installed and used, not the QT X player. The QT 7 player will upgrade to the pro version when FCP is installed.

When installing Adobe CS5 does it work with QT 7 or does it look for QT X ?

What’s the process to get back to QT 7 Pro once FCS has been loaded with QT X ?

Sorry to tell; it is not working like that for me. I have tried both with and without removing shared files. The Quicktime 7 Pro function is gone with the FCP 7.
