July 7, 2011 at 3:49 pmI suspect CS5 will work with either version, but probably opts for the system default (QT X).
QT X cannot (*should not*) be removed. QT 7 is offered as an additional install, and the different versions will co-exist peacefully.
If you’ve got a standalone QT 7 Pro serial number, the pro features do come back (for QT 7). Apple still sells Pro keys for $30 – well worth the money, IMO.
All of my machines have been upgraded to Snow Leopard, and all of them have QT X and QT 7 Pro. Two of those machines run FCS3, and two of them run FCP X. No QT related issues that I’ve seen.

July 7, 2011 at 3:56 pmAs far as I can tell removing the QT X player does not nothing at all. QT is still built into the OS and the QT 7 player is much more capable.
All the best,
Tom

July 7, 2011 at 4:25 pmMy mistake… I was thinking along the lines of a complete QuickTime uninstall, not just the player app. I’ve set QT Player 7 as the default handler precisely because of it’s versatility, so I never see QT X.
